 Centennial Dinner

The 4th President’s Centennial Dinner held in Cape Town

The 4th President’s Centennial Dinner took place at the Cavalli Wine and Stud Farm in Somerset West, near Cape Town, South Africa on Wednesday, 2 December. Close to 200 Union supporters gathered to celebrate its 95-year history and enjoy the renowned Cavalli vineyards, gardens, art gallery and restaurant.

Union President E Jane Carter and Executive Director Jose L Castro greeted the guests as they arrived. After wine tasting in a garden with a spectacular mountain view, the company dined in Cavalli’s elegant, contemporary restaurant.

In addition to the welcome from President Carter, the Hon Stephen Mule MP, Kenya, spoke about the importance of The Union’s longstanding leadership in the fight against tuberculosis. TB/HIV survivor Constance Manwa, who was treated through The Union-supported TB/HIV integrated care programme in Zimbabwe, also shared her experience and the renewed hope that recovery has brought her.

A special Centennial video was also premiered at this event. To view the video click here.

The President’s Centennial Dinner is the premiere fundraising event for The Union’s Centennial Campaign. Held each year in conjunction with the Union World Conference on Lung Health, the dinners have raised more than one million dollars to date.
